Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a flexible, creative, and adaptive therapy that can be used across the life span and with a range of presentations. But its non-directive approach can soemtimes leave new learners unsure where to start or how to dive in. This toolkit provides an introduction to ACT, useful frames to get you started, and is packed with resources to keep your learning going.
This resource was developed for the Rural Mental Health Partnership by Dr Caitlin Miller (Clinical Psychologist) and Dr Dayle Raftery (Clinical Psychologist) at The Peregrine Centre. The Rural Mental Health Partnership is funded by NSW Health. We thank Kate Tan (The Peregrine Centre) and Dr Russ Harris for their valuable contributions to this resource.
The following resource is designed for mental health practitioners working in rural or regional NSW who have an interest in learning Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
This is an introduction to ACT and is not exhaustive nor designed as a treatment manual. We encourage all practitioners learning a new modality to seek specialised training and engage in supervision.
